All about us and the Aravis...

Chalet Largo is privately owned and managed by us, Roderick and Gillie Hutchison. We came to this area from Scotland in 1990 and fell in love with its summer landscape and its winter sports. We have always been keen skiers and were delighted to find that there is excellent skiing available away from the famous concrete cities that were all the rage in the 70s and 80s. Here we have the double advantage of a picturesque village and a modern linked ski area. Prices are reasonable too, around a third cheaper than the Mega resorts of the Tarentaise on everything from cutting edge rental equipment to sausage and chips. The skiing is varied and interesting with good slopes for everyone from beginner to fully fledged expert. This isn't Tour Operator bull, we live and ski here and are happy to show you both when you come. We also know where the masses go when they come and how to avoid queuing even at the busiest of times. And speaking of queues, yes, there are some at peak holiday times but the worst you might experience would be about 20 min and even then they can usually be avoided by taking another lift. Come to us out of the School holidays and you can usually ski straight onto the lift. No British tour operator comes to Le Grand Bornand and the visitors are mainly French.
