There are several outstanding 18 hole golf courses
in the area including Chamonix and the Royal
Evian, home of the Evian Masters, the
second most valuable event on the Ladies tour.
They are accessible to the public all year round with challenging
layouts surrounded by magnificent scenery.
Coaching is available and all equipment
can be rented. |

Annecy
is the world capital of paragliding. This is
where the first paragliding school in Europe
was started and it is still one of the finest places in
the world to fly.
There are several schools in the Aravis
area and this picture could easily be you, flying solo above Lake
Annecy in your first week.
Experienced pilots will love the variety and
the range of launch sites as well as the breathtaking
scenery and the special challenges of the mountains. |

All
sorts of water sports are enjoyed on the nearby
lakes. Boats and windsurfers
can be rented from the beaches or you could take some lessons
and learn a new skill.
Pedaloes and rowing boats are available for the
less energetic.
There are guided tours around the lake which
explain the area and open up new views from a watery vantage
point.
On Lake Leman steam powered paddle boats cross
the lake between France and Switzerland on regular
routes enabling you to park just once and visit several places
in both countries. |

The
area is well supplied with many recreational facilities including
several tennis courts. Booking is simple and
you can get some coaching to brush up on your game.
Fishing is excellent in the rivers, well stocked
with trout, and in the lakes. Licenses and guides are available
from various outlets.
You could also choose to tour the area in your car. The whole
region has some of the most spectacular roads and viewpoints
in Europe. |
